Dyson wins Bikejoring Race

Dyson bred by Lukoi came first in the bikejoring race at Curragh Racecourse, Ireland.

Bikejoring is riding a bike whilst being pulled by a dog. Dyson is no stranger to competing having become the first Northern Inuit to qualify for the European Canicross Championships.

Well done Dyson and his owner Louise!

Dyson becomes the first NI to represent his country in the European Canicross Championships

Congratulations to Dyson (Lukoi Love is Worth The Fall) and his owner Louise who represented Ireland in the European Canicross Championships in October 2015. A fantastic achievement for Dyson and Louise and a brilliant advert for what Northern Inuits can achieve with some love and training – Dyson is the first Northern Inuit to ever compete in the European Championships!

Dyson and Louise came a very respectable 14th in the European Championships and competed against competitors from all over Europe. This was also Dyson’s first competitive race (although we doubt it will be his last!) and as you can see from the pictures below it looks like he thoroughly enjoyed himself. Well done Louise and Dyson!

Also making an appearance was daddy to the litter, Nero (bred in the UK by Otsoa) and 6 month old puppy Sherlock who will hopefully become a future stud dog for Mountain Myst subject to having satisfactory health tests (bred in the UK by Mahlek and exported to the USA).

First American litter of Northern Inuits

This has been a very exciting summer for the Northern Inuit Society and the Breed as the first litter of Northern Inuits were born in the USA! Congratulations to Mountain Myst Northern Inuits based in Colorado on the arrival of their stunning puppies from Nala and Nero. Nala and Nero were exported from the UK to the USA several years ago from NIS Breeders, Highground and Otsoa.

The demand for Northern Inuits in the USA is huge and UK Breeders have been exporting puppies for several years, but Mountain Myst setting up as a NIS Registered Breeder marks the start of the USA breeding programme. We also have a second breeder setting up, Kaikala, in LA who hopes to have a litter in the next couple of years.

Sponsored Walk for NIS Resuce and Shaman’s Legacy

   NIS Rescue and Shaman’s Legacy

One of our Members, Danuta Czerwinska, will be undertaking a mammoth sponsored walk to raise money for Northern Inuit Society Rescue and Shaman’s Legacy (a not for profit standalone rescue based in West Norfolk that supports all breeds/cross breeds in need).

On 22nd August 2015 I will take on a challenge walk (for me anyway :P) between 26 – 27 miles starting at Clay Bank (North Yorkshire moors) and finishing at home (If I will make it). Every one of our Nitwits will share the journey with me at some point to support two charities. If anyone wants to join me please send me a PM – I would love some company. It will be a great achievement and something I have not done before (most I have done was 24 miles 2 years ago). I would greatly appreciate any donations and if you would like to sponsor me please send me a pm. I was planning to split the sponsorship between Shamans Legacy (run by Lindsey Forrest) and Northern Inuit Society Dog Rescue.

Danuta will be joined along the way by dogs from her stunning pack (below) and anyone else who wishes to walk with Danuta (even part of the way) can contact her directly. You can contact Danuta on kudlaty1974@aol.com and paypal sponsorship donations can also be made to that address (no matter how small, every penny helps!).

Like a lot of rescues, both the Northern Inuit Society Rescue and Shaman’s Legacy rely on the kindness of individuals who are prepared to donate and raise money to help dogs in need. Further information about Northern Inuit Society Rescue can be found here and join Shamans Legacy Facebook Group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/shamanslegacy/)  or email shamanslegacy@gmail.com to find out more about the great work Shaman’s does and  the dogs available for foster/adopt.

Lexie’s Hydrotherapy Sessions

Hydrotherapy is a great way to keep dogs who can’t be particularly active on walks fit and healthy.

Here’s a clip of one of Lexie @ Lukoi hydrotherapy sessions – Lexie is 5 weeks pregnant so exercise is being restricted to keep her and her pups healthy so hydrotherapy is a great way to keep her fit and burn off some excess energy. Keep an eye on our Puppy News section for announcement about Lexie’s litter.
